In September, we partnered with WomenatthecentrE to document the lived experiences of Black survivors of gender-based violence and Black advocates working to end it.

There is currently no national data on hate that targets Black women, girls, trans, and gender diverse people. To fill this data gap, WomenatthecentrE created the Amourgynoir Code, a research initiative whose findings will be used to create better policies, practices, and interventions for Black survivors.

This region’s focus group was conducted in our drop-in space and facilitated by Iere Jeffers, our Sexual Assault Victim Support Worker and a Black survivor advocate. Participants were invited to share both their stories and a hearty lunch, connecting with others who could understand.

The event was such a success that the group has transitioned into a weekly sharing circle, open to any Black survivor or advocate. If you are interested in joining, please reach out.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
